A bitterly cold but bright morning with wind from the north east made for a stiff outward leg. Our favorite course, the U18R has got a tad harder with the addition of the Sharpness jaunt (which doesn't need any wind to make it hard). The new course and the cold wind resulting in much slower times than last year (2004 - fastest solo: 54:45, fastest 2up:55:06) with only one person getting under the hour.
Alan Griffith and Matt Lelliot coming in an impressive second place in the 2up despite being hampered by the bolt on Alan's tri-bars breaking just after the start forcing him to continue on the tops, and then Matt's rear gear cable snapping just before the turn leaving him with stuck in 53x12. Luckily with the huge tailwind this wasn't as disastrous as it might have been.
