30The evening 10 series is run each year between April and August on Wednesday evenings.
The 2009 series runs from 15th April 2009 to 26th August 2009
The first rider is off at 7:01pm.
Entry is ‘on the line’. Entry fee for senior members is £2.00 (additional £1 for day members), and £1.00 for juniors and juveniles. Riders under 18 must provide a signed parental consent form. Married male riders need their wife's permission.
We are using a new course (UC186) that uses the roads and lanes around Elberton, Aust, Northwick, Pilning, and Tockington. HQ is the car park of the Olveston Sports Club (ST612873). There is space for parking at the signing on point due to the kind permission of the Parish Council so please park sensibly where directed to avoid causing any problems. There is also parking at the bottom of Old Down hill nearer to the finish - those riders on fixed may prefer that option to avoid having to ride back up the hill after the event.
START (ST613883): At Junction of Foxholes Lane with the B4461. Turn left down hill to join the M48 roundabout at Aust [2.79 miles], take first exit direction Avonmouth (A403) continue to take left turn (B4055) direction Northwick [4.86 miles] continue over M4 road bridge to turn right [distance 5.73 miles] to continue on the B4055 direction Pilning to turn left [distance 6.03] in to Bank Road. Continue to turn left at junction with Pilning Street [7.00 miles] direction Awkley, continue over M4 road bridge to finish in Hardy lane opposite Mill Lane (ST605864) [10 miles]. The course is on Bike Route Toaster.
Take care during the event; in particular at the right turn [5.73miles]. There will be a marshal at this junction. Any riders who fail to obey the law of the land (crossing into the opposite carriageway, etc) will be disqualified. Course RecordsMen

The evening 10 series incorporates the competition for the Arthur Powell Trophy. There are a further two trophies up for grabs, the Syd Marks Trophy for the fastest vet and The Brian Paul Memorial Cup for the fastest rider overall in the series. Both first and second claim members are eligible to compete for all three trophies.
If the Severn Road Club is not your first claim club, you can join as a second claim member on the night for a nominal annual fee. As each race is a club event there is no need to enter in advance so you can just turn up, sign on and ride (riders must be a minimum of 12 years of age, under 18's must submit a parental consent form). How the Arthur Powell Trophy competition works The Arthur Powell competition is awarded each year for the most improved rider and is run over 10 weeks from May 27 - August 5 (excluding June 3rd when InterClub 10 also held) as a points competition. The rider accumulating the most points during the 10 weeks is awarded the Trophy. Points are scored as follows:
A personal best (PB) is defined, for the purposes of this competition series, as a rider's fastest time recorded on this course during the current and previous season. Where a rider has not recorded a PB for the course, then their first ride will score 1 point and be used as the riders PB in subsequent weeks. Examples: A rider with a PB of 25m 30s achieves a time of 25m 15s would score 7 points. A rider with a PB of 24m 17s achieves a time of 24m 38s would score 3 points. The Syd Marks Trophy The Syd Marks Trophy is awarded to the veteran rider, first or second claim, who posts the fastest time during the series on the UC182 course. The Brian Paul Memorial Cup The Brian Paul Memorial Cup is awarded to the rider, first or second claim, who posts the fastest time during the series on the UC182 course.
