Young ladies and women who have a sparked interest in the new television show, “The Sing-Off,” [Saratoga Soundtrack Chorus has a place on our risers waiting for you to Sing-Off. “The Sing-Off” is a four-night NBC series hosted by Nick Lachey that premiered on Dec. 14 and featured eight singing groups vying for an Epic Records/Sony Recording contract. The only instruments allowed were their own voices.
A contestant of “The Sing-Off”, MAXX Factor, has been competing among the best a cappella groups across the nation and the globe for nearly three years as a Sweet Adelines International quartet. As a member of Saratoga Soundtrack chorus you too can experience the exhilaration of performing and singing four-part a cappella style barbershop harmony. As a member of our chorus you become a member of Sweet Adelines International, a highly respected worldwide organization of women singers.
Women of all ages who enjoy singing are invited to attend the chorus’ weekly rehearsal on Monday evenings at 7:00 at Sartoga United Methodist Church. Any woman of average singing ability, with or without vocal training, will find a part that fits her voice range with the help of the chorus’ musical leaders and director. Saratoga Soundtrack Chorus Wins First Place Medals
The Saratoga Soundtrack Chorus, recently chartered with Sweet Adelines International, won the Lake Ontario Region 16 competition for small choruses held in Syracuse, NY on April 25, 2009. The chorus, under the direction of Nancy Faddegon, was among 15 choruses vying for the title of best chorus in the A division (15-30 members). Choruses are judged on two songs in the categories of sound, music, expression and showmanship. The achievement was especially remarkable since it was the chorus's first competition.
The Saratoga Soundtrack Chorus includes 24 women ranging in age from early twenties to their sixties who all share a love for music and singing four-part barbershop harmony. The chorus performs locally and holds weekly rehearsals on Mondays at the United Methodist Church on Henning and Fifth. Nancy Faddegon is co-founder and director of the Saratoga Soundtrack Chorus. Previously, Nancy served for many years as Assistant Director of Capitaland Chorus. She was tenor of Region 16 Quartet Champions – InJoy!, All the Rage! and Tetra - who went on to compete at seven Sweet Adelines International Conventions, held annually in various locales, most recently in Hawaii.
Nancy works with husband Jack in their landscape contracting company in Latham. She is an accomplished barbershop arranger and composer, including one of the Region's theme songs, "Kickin' it up a Notch", which was featured in the IES program in 2008 and is sung by many choruses throughout the Sweet Adelines organization.

Local Quartet Takes First Place
(May 1, 2008, Saratoga Springs, NY) - Tetra Quartet captured first place at the regional Sweet Adelines quartet competition held Friday, April 11th in Syracuse, New York.. As regional champions they will advance to international competition, which will take place in November in Honolulu, Hawaii; they will be competing against 50 other Sweet Adelines regional winners.
The quartet consists of Jennifer Hunter, baritone, of Saratoga Springs, Nancy Faddegon, tenor, of Latham, NY, Leigh Anne Dorman, bass, of Glens Falls and Sandra Nason, lead, of Ottawa, Ontario.Tetra Quartet was one of 16 Sweet Adelines International quartets that participated in the regional competition . These quartets represent the Region 16 Lake Ontario area which includesportions of New York State and Ontario.
Faddegon also was the director of first time chorus participant, Saratoga Soundtrack Chorus, who performed on Saturday and received comments and evaluation from Sweet Adeline Judges in preparation for their first competition next year. Dorman and Hunter sang with the chorus at this event. Nason, master director of Canadian Showtime Chorus, brought home the first place medal in the chorus event. The Saratoga Soundtrack Chorus is accepting new members and rehearses on Mondays at 7:00 pm at the Saratoga United Methodist Church.

Local Chorus Offers Free Voice Lessons
SARATOGA SPRINGS: The Saratoga Soundtrack Chorus is offering free voice lessons through their four-week program, "The Perfect Blend." Participants will receive training in singing women’s four part a capella harmony. Instruction will include proper singing posture and breathing, vocal production, and visual performance techniques. Participants will also learn a song in four part harmony. Classes will include demonstrations from the Saratoga Soundtrack Chorus and will be taught by chorus director, Nancy Faddegon.
Lessons will be held Mondays, September 15, 22, 29 and October 6 at 6:30 -7:30 p.m. at the Saratoga United Methodist Church. Participants are invited to attend the chorus rehearsals immediately following each session. For information, directions and registration please visit www.saratogasoundtrack.org or call 518-583-7048. Registration is suggested, but walk ins are welcome. Singing experience is not necessary.
The Saratoga Soundtrack Chorus is a women’s chorus and a prospective chorus of Sweet Adelines International. Singers are from the Saratoga and Adirondack Areas. The Chorus rehearses weekly on Monday evenings at 7:00 and welcomes visitors. The chorus performs at community events and shows. In addition it promotes harmony and friendship among women.
