Sanspointe was founded in 2003 by Michelle Hamff and exists to create new dance works, perform high-quality art with integrity, collaborate artistically and connect to the community. Under the artistic direction of Shellie Chambers, Sanspointe is a non-profit organization with more than 15 company artists and a board of directors.

In all, Sanspointe has presented more than 25 original works by Alabama choreographers. Sanspointe has performed in Baton Rouge, Huntsville, Tuscaloosa and Birmingham at events including Alabama Modern Collaborations, the Bravo Festival, Random Acts of Art, the Alabama Dance Festival and Magic City Arts Connection. Sanspointe company members bring a diverse group of interests and talents to the company. This unique melding of artistic ideas and inspiration allows Sanspointe to constantly evolve and to challenge themselves and their audiences’ expectations of what modern dance is.
