This camp is indented to provide a summer swimming program specifically for Saline Middle School and High School swimmers. Its purpose is to prepare the participants for the upcoming high school season. Any 8th grade swimmer thinking about swimming in high school next season should seriously consider participating in this program. The camp will be run by Coach Brunty and will consist of 32 practices Monday – Friday from June 11 to July 31. Unfortunately due to the MHSAA rules there will be absolutely no practices offered during the MHSAA “dead period” (July 3 – July 9). Practice will be from 6:30AM – 9:00AM on Monday- Friday. This swim camp is not intended to replace or compete with Club Wolverine or the Saline USS Team. Before you leave your USS team to participate in this club for the summer you should OK it with the club coach and Coach Brunty. It is important for the swimmers to compete in some way so we can evaluate your progress. For camp participants the easiest way to do this is to compete in the summer WISC swim league. The Saline Stingrays are offering a reduced rate of $25.00 for swimmer enrolled in this camp. This fee allows you to compete in the WISC dual meets and the Championship Meet for the Stingrays. The minimum requirement will be two-dual meets and the Championship meet on July 20, but you are certainly allowed to do more. I will be attending these meets whenever possible and working closely with the stingray coaching staff on individual and relay entries. I highly recommend that you take advantage of this opportunity. If you wish to attend any USS meets you will have to do so unattached. I will not be attending USS meets. I will help you prepare for them and will encourage a few of you to go to a couple. Particularly the LC State Championship on July 30 – August 2. It would be a nice way to finish the summer. The focus of the program will be on stroke technique and conditioning. Specific start, turn, race strategy and other work will be done as needed. We will also do core body strength exercises for swimmers at least three days per week. There is currently a 50-swimmer limit with priority given to the Saline High School and Middle School swimmers. They will receive priority registration through May 15. Then registration will be open to out of district swimmers at an increased rate. The cost of the club for Saline students is $ 175.00. The cost of the club for out of district swimmers is $225.00. This price includes the reduced Saline Stingrays fee of $25.00. The cost without the Stingray option will be $150.00 and $200.00.
