Graduation Requirements


Total credits required for graduation from Saline High School:


Class of 2010 - 27 credits
  • English - 4 credits (see ELA section of Course Selection Guide for required courses)
  • Social Studies - 3 credits (see Social Studies section of Course Selection Guide for required courses)
  • Math - 2 credits (3-4 are recommended for college)
  • Science - 2 credits (see Science section of Course Selection Guide for required courses)
  • Physical Education -1 credit
  • Career Planning and Exploration - 1 credit

Class of 2011 - 27 credits
  • English - 4 credits (see ELA section of Course Selection Guide for required courses)
  • Social Studies - 3 credits (see Social Studies section of Course Selection Guide for required courses)
  • Math - 4 credits
  • Science - 3 credits (see Science section of Course Selection Guide for required courses)
  • Physical Education -1 credit
  • Transitions, Technology & Health Education - 1 credit
  • Visual, Performing OR Applied Arts  - 1 credit

Class of 2012 - 27 credits
  • English Language Arts - 4 credits (English 9 or Honors English 9, English 10, Lit & Society OR AP English-Language & Comp OR British Lit OR Journalism) and 1 English elective
  • Social Studies - 3 credits (World History-9th grade, U.S. History OR AP U.S. History-10th grade, Government/Economics OR AP U.S. Government-11th grade)
  • Math - 4 credits (Algebra 1/Geometry/Advanced Algebra OR higher math classes OR Algebra 1, Fundamental Geometry 1, Algebra 2 Fundamentals A, Algebra 2 Fundamentals B OR higher math classes).  One math course must be taken during the student's senior year.
  • Science - 3 credits (Biology 1, Intro to Chemistry, Intro to Physics, Chemistry, Physics OR higher science classes) and 1 additional Science credit

Students are classified by grade level according to credits.  Classifications are as follows:

Freshman                less than 6 credits
Sophomore              6-12 credits
Junior                     13-19 credits
Senior                    20 or more credits
