Annual Harvest Elementary School Science/Special Interest Fair March 12, 2009 The annual Harvest Elementary School Science/Special Interest Fair will be on Thursday, March 12, 2009 in the Harvest Elementary cafeteria and gym. Here are the important dates and times: Science Fair entry form (see below) is due Friday, February 27, 2009. Project set up will be Wednesday, March 11 from 5 to 7 pm. Classroom viewing will be Thursday March 12 from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm. Science Fair for family and guests will be March 12 from 6:30 to 8 pm. Projects will be taken home after the fair on Thursday night. A Science Fair handbook and a copy of this form are both down loadable from the Harvest Website under announcements as well as Mrs. McCormick's Quest Webite. We would like to encourage all student scientists to think of a cool science fair project for this year’s fair. Our children are surrounded by technology and the products of science. The purpose of the fair is to give students the opportunity to understand the creative process by which these items are developed. Students wishing to participate will choose a topic they are interested in, research it, and present their findings on a formal display board. This is a wonderful way for all students to expand their factual knowledge about science. Science Fair project ideas can be found in the non-fiction section of both Harvest and the Saline District Library, the internet is another good source. Your child may work individually or in a group. If they choose to work in a group, all participants must submit a registration form signed by their parent. Please note that the following items are not permitted: animals in the project display, fire, dry ice, explosives, weapons, poisons, sharp instruments or active chemical reactions (a volcano may be photographed and displayed on the board.)
