PTO Minuets September 14, 2009

HOUGHTON PTO GENERAL MEETING

September 14th, 2009

ATTENDEES:

Board:                   Dawn Ducca – President, Collette Marsh – 1st VP, Alison Denomme – 2nd VP, Katie Graves – Treasurer, Danielle Holloway – Secretary, Cindy Munday – volunteer coordinator

Members:            Kristi Lin, Susan Faulkner, Lisa Dickson, Betsy Gudsen, Bethany Lemm, Katherine Baisden, Nelia Dean,

 

The meeting was convened at 7:30 p.m.

I.                    Approval of minutes for last month was proposed by Dawn and seconded by Danielle.  The minutes were approved with a unanimous vote.

II.                  Treasurer’s Report

A.      We discussed the amounts and updated the budget for the 2009-2010 school year and the need to review the report as we may be coming up short.

III.                Committee Reports on past events:

A.      First Day Folders – completed successfully.  Thank you to all of the parent volunteers. 

B.      Bus greeters – completed successfully.  Thank you to all of the parent volunteers.

IV.                Committee Reports for future events:

A.      Fall Fundraiser – Starts Friday September 25.  We are still looking for volunteers.  We need people to distribute to the parents once products come in.  We will begin calling parents to pick up their orders if all orders haven’t been picked up by November 9th.

B.      Open House –  Set up will begin at 5:30 – all set for 9/24 from 6-7pm.

C.      Houghton T-shirt sales – Flyers going out on 9/18 and we still need volunteers to sell them at the open house. 

D.      Zero the Hero –   The first day for Zero is September 21.  Katie is in the process of confirming w/ the teachers the days as ½ days are counted. 

E.       Grandparent’s Day – Grandparents Day will be held on October 23rd for an am and pm session.  Volunteers will be needed for greeting and making sure name tags are distributed.

F.       Picture Day – Pictures will be taken on Wednesday September 30th.  We need 5 helpers in each session.  The time commitment is for the entire kindergarten session

G.      Domino’s Pizza Night - Flyers will be coming out soon.

V.                  Questions

A.      Bulletin Board – Allison did a great job decorating the bulletin board.  We can update this for our PTO events, i.e.  Book Fair, Holiday Gift Shop, etc..  We should currently update it for Domino’s Pizza night and Picture Day

B.      Volunteer Coordinator Position – Cindy Mundy is doing an excellent job as the volunteer coordinator.  She is very proactive in helping the Coordinators get volunteers for each program.  Thanks Cindy!

VI.                Cash For Education – Busch’s is changing their program from scrip to Cash for Education.  Flyers will be forth coming announcing the new program and trying to get Busch’s cards out to each Houghton Family.

VII.              Ellison die cut machine – The school is not replacing these die cuts as the school has a new machine the teachers use more frequently.
