Students will be provided with instruction in the areas of measurement, geometry, statistics, probability and algebraic ideas. Also, strategies for problem solving and the techniques for effective calculator usage will also be important components of the class.  In addition, sixth grade mathematics will focus on the areas of fractions, decimals, ratio/proportion and percent.

         In all instruction, conceptualization or understanding of the concept will be stressed with a variety of strategies being employed by the teacher, including the use of manipulatives, working in groups, writing about math, as well as teacher demonstration.  We will use the Everyday Mathematics program.
