& News:
*Thanksgiving Feast - Thank you to all our wonderful families who donated food, their time, and help for our Thanksgiving Feast. The students had plenty of food and lots of fun. Check out our pictures on Twitter! We are
truly thankful for all of our students and their supportive families. *CONFERENCE SIGN-UPS - Team D'Merkley will be
having conferences on Monday, November 30th, and Tuesday, December 1st.
If you signed up for a conference time at Open House please visit our link under the tab "Fall Conference Sign-Up" to see what
time you scheduled your conference. We have a very tight schedule so PLEASE BE ON TIME!
*TORONTO TRIP 2010 - Toronto Chaperone Information was sent home on Friday, Nov. 13. If you are interested in chaperoning to Toronto please make sure to return the interest form by Friday, Dec. 4th. Chaperones will be notified prior to Winter Break. Team D'Merkley will be traveling to Toronto May 20 - May 21, 2010.
*Online Grades - Please make sure you are checking PowerSchool to access student grades. If you have any questions, please feel free to let us know. Trimester 1 grades are official as of Monday, December 7th. Team D'Merkley will no longer be entering grades after Monday, November 30th. *Parents -
If you have an important message that needs to reach your son or
daughter by the end of the school day, please contact the office to
deliver the message instead of emailing/voice mailing us. We are not always able to
check our email/voice mail before the end of the day. *Students - please take our third Team D'Merkley survey located on our homepage! *Scholastic book orders are due Monday, November 30. There is no donation book for this month.
Academics: D'Andrea Math: Our current unit is on Properties - these are the rules we follow when we add, subtract, multiply and divide! The test will be after the Thanksgiving break.
Mierkowicz Math: There will be a test on Tuesday covering Unit 3. We will start Unit 4 on fractions after Thanksgiving Break.
Hensley Math: We continue working on Unit 3; Variables & Patterns.
Science: We are working on our PowerPoints this week!!
Social Studies - We will continue our investigation into the Ancient Civilization of the Mayans. This week we will look at the ancient game of Pok-a-Tok! After Thanksgiving Break we will start learning about the Aztecs.
Reading - We finished our novels last Thursday. This week we will make story maps and tri-a-ramas from the novels. We will start a novel this week as a class called, The Diving Bell to follow our study of Ancient Civilizations. This book will be read in school only to correspond with our metacognitive logs.
Grammar - This week we will construct action verb cards.
Writing - We will start our next writing trait of Organization this week.
Spelling - Unit 10 will start this week and continue into next week. The packet will be handed out this week, but is not due until Thursday, Dec. 3. The test covering Unit 10 will be on Friday, Dec. 4th.
