| Greetings and salutations! My name is John Hoarty, and I teach in the Social Science and English/Language Arts departments at Bishop Mora Salesian High School. I moved to Los Angeles in 2006 for graduate school and began teaching at Salesian in the fall of that year. Having just earned a Master's in Secondary Education and Preliminary California teaching credential at Loyola Marymount University, I am now enrolled in a program at LMU to further my knowledge as an educator and earn my permanent California teaching credential. I am committed to providing the best education possible for my students. For more information on my educational philosophy, visit my e-portfolio at the following URL: http://johnfhoarty.googlepages.com/home. I was born in Omaha, Nebraska and moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to pursue my undergraduate degree in history at Marquette University. After completing my bachelor's degree I joined the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, a post-graduate program that places volunteers in social services organizations. I served in a transitional housing program for women and children as well as a food recovery program. After my time in JVC, I realized that I wanted to pursue my dream of becoming a teacher and came out West to do so. Thanks for reading.
