Problem of the Week

for Tuesday, September 28, 2010

As the Math Department's only new teacher, Vickie Fernandez is given the task of devising the first Problem of the Week. On Sunday night, Vickie tosses and turns awake in her bed, unable to think of a good problem. While standing on her head (Vickie is a very acrobatic tosser and turner), she glances at her digital clock to check how long she's been awake. The clock reads:

(Note: Vickie's clock has lost its colon symbol.) "How funny," she thinks. "If I were looking at my clock right-side-up, I would read the same time." If Vickie lies awake for one more hour, for how many times will the time upside-down be the same as the time right side-up?
