Character Analysis Outline

 

  1. Introduction – should include:

·        Title, author, and illustrator of the book

·        Context – a brief summary of the book

·        Topic Sentence – should have the 2 character traits that you will write about.

 

  1. First paragraph – This paragraph should elaborate on the first character trait mentioned in the topic sentence.  It should also include at least one example from the book.

 

  1. Second paragraph – This paragraph should elaborate on the second character trait mentioned in the topic sentence.  It should also include at least one example from the book.

 

  1. Conclusion – should include:

·        A restatement of the topic sentence.

·        An “Aha” statement – a personal response to the book.  It is evaluative and appropriate to the focus.

Author’s Craft Outline

 

  1. Introduction – should include:
    • Title, author, and illustrator of the book
    • Context – a brief summary of the book
    • Topic Sentence – should have an analysis of how the author wrote the book.  For example, The author’s descriptions of the places that Joe visited made me feel as if I were there. 

 

  1. First paragraph – This paragraph should elaborate on the topic sentence with an example from the book.

 

  1. Second paragraph – This paragraph should elaborate on the topic sentence with another example from the book.

 

  1. Conclusion  – should include:

·        A restatement of the topic sentence.
