The Tag Shootout is complete and Wyatt came home in 4th place after a very trying race day. The weekend started off very good with a beautiful Saturday for a day long practice session. Wyatt was fast right out the gate on Saturday posting lap times 2 full seconds faster than he has ever been at this track. When practice was over we went home feeling very confident about the day to come. Sunday race day, with the sky looking a bit ominous race officials decided to go with only one practice round and head strait to qualifying and races. Everyone was able to complete their practice and then the rain started and as we were mounting our rain tires the rain stopped and the track dried out. Up next was Wyatt’s qualifying attempt and this is when his day started getting worse, as he left the grid his motor quit before he got to the second turn and our session was over leaving him to start at the rear of the prefinal. Now with our motor running great it was time to start the prefinal, all was going well until Wyatt and another kart got together as he was passing for 3rd leaving Wyatt unable to finish his race. Wyatt now had to start the race from the back of the field in the final with only 15 laps to make it to the front on a track with very limited passing areas. Wyatt moved up to 5th fairly easy and then it became harder to pass and ran out of time as he was about to pass for 3rd. Wyatt drove very hard and did a great job with all the adversity he had to face this weekend.

Next Race

Our second race of the Championship Enduro Series is complete and we came home with a 5th for Wyatt and a 8th for Garrett. The weekend started out beautiful for Friday and Saturday and ended with rain showers on Sunday. Both boys had very good races with Garrett showing great improvement every time he gets on the track. Wyatt was very strong in Saturday’s race and as he passed karts from 5th all the way to 2nd he started to experience engine troubles and dropped back to 5th by the end of the race. Our race partner Tristan showed great teamwork and tried to help Wyatt back to the leaders unaware that Wyatt was having mechanical problems he waited just a little to long to leave Wyatt and work back through the pack himself so he ended the day in 4th.

Gateway is in the books and Wyatt comes home second place in

the points for Saturday and tied for first on Sunday. Garrett's first

CES race weekend also went very well as he was very fast in his

Gazell powered kart and was running a strong 7th when he

experienced problems on the back stretch and was unable to finish. Saturdays race was very exciting with Wyatt being

released from the infield care center and getting his kart back in

racing condition after a morning practice crash we were ready to

race with 20 minutes to spare before the start. Wyatt was very

sore and bruised but was able to start the race and after 20

minutes the race ended with Wyatt and Tristian just .001 seconds

apart at the flag with Tristian earning his first win.

The final standings for the Championship Enduro Series have

been posted and Wyatt has finished in 4th in Cadet 1 and

4th in Cadet 2. We are very happy with the results as we

missed a race in June due to a schedule conflict and were

unable to race at Gratten due to an accident that left his

helmet destroyed and we were unable to find a new helmet

that fit properly in time for the race ( we now carry a spare)

Sebastian finished 2nd in Cadet 1 and 1st in Cadet 2 and

with Kip finishing 4th in Tag Heavy the racers from central

Iowa did very well this year.

Our last race was at VIR for the United States Grand Prix and Wyatt had a very successful weekend. Friday was a very big day for us as we had all our practice rounds, qualifying, and B Main race all in the same day. We started off very well on a track that we had only seen on a computer game at our friend Kips house. It took about 3 practice round to get comfortable with the tracks 23 + turns but we were still a tick off when it was time to go qualify. Some how Wyatt was able to drop 8 seconds off his practice time and start 4th for the B main out of the 17 different cadet karts from all over the world. He had a very good race and was able to finish 3rd and set the all time fastest lap for a Tag Cadet at VIR, and by the time we left the tech building and all the penalties were passed out we were 1st. Our A Main race would be held Sunday in the rain and by the time we took the track we had very odd race conditions with the track being 4.3 miles long there were areas of the track that were dry and areas that had standing water. After much thought his crew chief decided to run a very soft rain tire as did some of are opponents and others ran a hard rain tire. As it turned out the harder tire would prevale and Wyatt would finish 4th by .06 seconds. Kip and Sebastian had a very good weekend also with Sebastian starting in a combined class of TAG Senior and TaG Jr in the 37th position in the pouring rain to finish 7th over and 1st in his class a truely amazing effort on Sebs part.
