Welcome to the 6th Grade Mathematics website for students in Mr. Morio's classes. Here, students (and their parents) will find important information about their mathematics classes, whether they are in 6th Grade Regular or 6th Grade Express. This is also a great place for News/Announcements related to mathematics in the middle school. In addition, useful links to math websites and information about international math competitions can be found here.
Grading PolicyTests/Projects - 60% Quizzes/Projects - 30% Homework - 10% Students who score lower than 80% on any test are allowed to arrange to take a "re-test". Late homework will be accepted, but will be subject to a penalty of 50%. Late homework will be accepted WITHOUT penalty only in cases where I have been notified in advance of special circumstances (illness, family duties, extracurricular events/school trips, etc.).
Materials
All students are expected to bring the following materials to EVERY class:
- Pencils (sharpened, or with extra lead on hand);
- Eraser
- Pen (red or blue, for marking homework)
- Highlighter
- Folder with plastic sleeves
- A4 lined paper
- Calculator
Students who come to class without materials will be assigned to "Community Service". This means they will have to give up a milk break or lunch break to help with classroom projects or chores. Students who repeatedly come to class without materials will be assigned a Time Out.
