On Saturday the 17th on October, members of Alpha Team rendezvoused at MacDonalds in Bruma, Johannesburg for a filling breakfast before heading across the road to the local SANBS clinic to donate blood. They were joined by a number of civilians who were their to offer both blood and moral support. One Dauntless Officer (LT van der Berg) and one civilian (Bruce Reid) donated blood for the first time, and were given the traditional welcome gift-bags, containing heart-shaped stress-balls and SANBS lapel-pins. Several of the crew were there to donate for the fourth time in 2009, and they received their traditional thank-you gifts: pre-packed first-aid kits. The mission was a success, and resulted in eight lives saved. Crewmembers in attendance:
