Uniforms

The USS Dauntless is set in the late 24th century, and uses the appropriate Starfleet uniforms for that period (often referred to as the "First Contact Greys"). For the corresponding rank insignia, please visit the Rank Insignia Page.

Different versions of the uniform are appropriate under different circumstances. The images below are catagorised accordingly. This page does not yet contain guidelines for Marine uniforms. For those guidelines, please consult the latest edition of the MFM for the Marine equivalents.

It should be noted that the wearing of an official uniform carries with it a certain responsibility. When you put on your uniform, you become a walking symbol of the organisation you represent: the USS Dauntless, the 8th Fleet and STARFLEET as a whole. That being the case, it's important to ensure that you and your uniform project the best possible image. Among other things, one of the best ways to ensure that is to maintain your uniform in its best possible condition: it should always be clean and pressed and it should display the correct insignia (such as Branch of Service colour, commbadge and rank insignia).

The correct Commbadge to be worn with all uniforms is the 2370s versionWhich may be substituted with the Region 8 Commabadge Available from New Moon Props

Standard Duty Uniforms (SDU)

These are the default uniforms to be worn by crewmembers while on normal duty. Unless otherwise specified, this is the uniform to be worn to all chapter functions.

The uniform top can be purchased online or made to specifications. When making this purchase, be sure to get the correct colour variant for your branch of service. The uniform top should be worn with full-length black slacks, preferably unpleated with no turn-ups, and preferably with no visible pockets. Under-shirts must be tucked in. Shoes must be black, preferably ankle-length laceless boots - but any smart, black, closed shoes will suffice. Any belt-pouches should be black in colour.

With the exception of wedding rings, no jewellery or other accessories (including hats, jackets or gloves) may be worn without prior command approval.

Combat Fatigues / Battle Dress Uniforms (BDU)

These are the uniforms to be worn by crewmembers while involved in combat or combat simulation activities. (Commbadges and rank insignia are traditionally not worn with this uniform).

This uniform may come in a broad variety of configurations. Provided the colour coordination is correct and accurate to your branch of service colour (including black trousers and footwear) the uniform itself may be customised to the extent required by the activity in question. That customisation may include sizing variations to accommodate concealed armour, weapon holsters, or other equipment; fitted pockets and other cargo carrying devices. Any externally-visible attachments (including external armour, helmets or hand-held weapons) should be black or silver in colour.

Combat fatigues may be decorated with additional insignia (unit patches, mission patches or team logos) only after command approval.
