The Bridge

The Bridge is the Command Centre of the Starship. Located on Deck 1, the Bridge is where the top-ranking on-duty Officers serve. From here, all the ship's systems are monitored and controlled.

As with most aspects of the Defiant Class Starship, the Bridge has been stripped of many redundant and unnecessary elements. It is therefore smaller that those of most other classes of Starship.

The stations on the Bridge are as follows:

  • Captain's Chair (centre)
    Usually occupied by the Commanding Officer or the Executive Officer.
  • Helm (aka Conn) (centre, forward)
    Usually occupied by the Helm Officer.
  • Operations (port, forward)
    Usually occupied by the Ops Chief or Deputy Ops Chief.
  • Security/Tactical (port, aft)
    Usually occupied by either the Chief of Security or the Marine OIC.
  • Science (starboard, forward)
    Usually occupied by the Chief Science Officer or the Deputy.
  • Engineering (starboard, aft)
    Usually occupied by the Chief Engineer, the Deputy or an assigned Engineering Bridge Officer.
In addition to these standard stations, there are several other consoles scattered around the Bridge which can be quickly and easily configured to serve as redundant or auxilliary workstations, should the need arise.

The enclave at the rear of the Bridge serves as a situation room for Bridge Officers, where large displays can be configured to display mission-critical information as needed.

Crewmembers serving on the Bridge are known to engage in light banter to help pass the time and ease tension in stressful situations. This is done either face to face or via a text-based interface on the Main Computer.
