Sickbay

Sickbay is the Medical office of the Starship. The Medical staff are based here, and this chamber is stocked with the equipment necessary to deal with most medical emergencies a Starship is likely to encounter in the field. Since Defiant Class Starships are intended to be tethered to a Starbase, the medical equipment in the Sickbay is geared towards stabilising the patients until they can be moved to a superior medical facility at the Starbase.

Either the Chief Medical Officer or Deputy would normally be stationed here, along with at least one Nurse or Medical Technician.

In its standard configuration, the Sickbay is fitted with one main Biobed (the diagnostic and surgical platform near the cenre of the room) and two recovery beds (which can double as auxiliary biobeds if necessary). The Sickbay can be reconfigured for specialised medical tasks, if necessary.

The sickbay is fitted with an array of Holo-emitters which permits the use of holographic equipment, including the Emergency Medical Hologram.
