 Although a Starship Captain is always on duty, it's not always practical for him to be on the Bridge. Situations often arise that require the Captain have a private office, close to the Bridge, where he can perform his other command duties. This could involve sending and receiving secure messages, having private meetings with members of the crew, or simply having a private space to collect his thoughts while deciding on a complex issue.For this reason, most Federation Starships have a Ready Room adjacent to the Bridge, and the Defiant Class is no exception. Although considerably smaller and more spartan than Ready Rooms on other classes of starship, it is adequate to serve the Captain's needs. It is equipped with a large desk and computer terminal, a large critical data display, a replicator and a comfortable couch and chair. |
