Big Day Out in Reffley Wood
Sunday 22nd November
11am –3pm
The Reffley Wood Volunteer Group will be combining creative and woodland
maintenance activities on this day. Come along and spend some quality
time with your family or with new friends in a beautiful calm natural
environment. All welcome!
Activities planned:
We’re going on a bear hunt through the wood
(real bears may be spotted!)
Teddy bears picnic (bring a picnic and a bear!)
Charcoal burning
Coppicing (sturdy shoes essential; children MUST be accompanied by a responsible adult due to sharp tools)
‘Extracting timber using a horse’ demonstration (tbc)
Locations will be signposted from Sandy Lane and Peckover Way entrances.
Join
the Reffley Wood Volunteer Group. It’s free, fun, friendly and will
help to keep you fit. All sorts of roles possible, from organising
events to chopping trees or just helping to care for the wood in whatever way you can.

A big thank you
to all of those who supported the Cabaret evening, it was a very good
night by all accounts. There are plans to hold another around April 2010, so look out for the adverts as yet again there will be
more people after the tickets than we have seats. |

From this week until the end of the year someone will be at the hall between 1000hrs &
1200 hrs to take any new bookings, sign
contracts and collect
deposits and monies.

Why
not come along to a Bingo night on November 16th and join us in a fun
night of bingo and
banter. There will be refreshments available and its eyes down at
7:30pm. Don't forget to bring a friend, we have plenty of room in the
new hall. Proceeds are going to help fund the decoration of the small hall.

Something new to try.
There is to be another quiz night at the hall on FRIDAY 27th NOVEMBER.
Proceeds going to the Community Association.
Doors open at 7pm ready for a 7:30pm start. ONLY £2 per player with a maximum of 6 per team.
Please bring your own drinks and snacks. |

 The second car boot of the year was blessed with warm sunshine so the turnout was fantastic.
This is just a sample of the "Booters" who had goods on offer.

After
months of uncertainty it is official, the contractor employed to build the new
community hall and refurbish the old hall has ceased trading. We are now left
with the challenge of completing the ambitious project ourselves. The
Association needs over £20,000 to finish the building work, this is where YOU come in. It would really
help if you come along and support the fund raising activities the COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION
puts on, such as the BINGO NIGHTS, CAR BOOTS, TABLE TOP SALES, TRADE FAIRS, LIVE MUSIC SHOWS etc.
If you could help out in any way at the various events, running of the halls, the general upkeep of the buildings and
surrounding area, filling in grant application forms, or if you have any ideas
that could help raise extra funds please come forward. The small team of
volunteers that makes up the association will be most pleased to welcome you.
