Sharon Anderson, Ph.D., grew up on a farm/ranch in Wyoming. Being the youngest of three, she has fond memories of playing football, softball, and basketball with her older brothers;
helping her mom with indoor responsibilities; occasionally getting to drive a tractor with her dad; and attending a very small public school that held K-12 grades in the same building.
After graduating from high school, she attended the University of Wyoming and received her bachelor’s degree in English education in 1978. She taught junior high for 1 year and then returned to the University to work on a master’s degree in counseling.
Anderson worked with TRIO Programs for several years, and then decided in 1988 to pursue her doctorate in counseling psychology through the University of Denver. She graduated in 1993 and obtained her current faculty position at Colorado State University in 1994. As an associate professor, she taught multicultural issues in education, professional ethics, practicum, and internship classes in a master’s counseling and career development program.
In 2006 Anderson became the Director of Graduate Programs in the School of Education at Colorado State University. She researchs and writes in the area of professional ethics and issues of privilege and teaches a doctoral level professional ethics course.
On a personal side, Anderson is a single mom of two awesome children, Bobby and Taya. __________________________________________________________
