I hope that you enjoyed this time before Christmas with your family.  On Monday, the teachers were attending an inservice to learn how to better meet the needs of the 21st century child.  Workshops such as these are always times well spent.
This short week we will be reviewing the liturgical calendar with a graphic that will be sent home to study.  The children also will be revisiting some Old Testament ancestors of Jesus and learning their symbols to create a Jesse Tree book.  We're rapping to the multiplication facts - seems to be working with the memorization. We'll be solving word problems, those written for us and those we compose ourselves.  Interactive and board games will provide a big help.  There will be a test on Friday.
The children will be tested on the skills for Theme 2 in Reading/Language Arts.  To continue to review the skills from this theme, ask your child to tell you the main idea and to give you a fact and an opinion from the selection that they are reading on their own be it from the library or store. Theme 1's comprehension skills were characters and setting - when and where the story takes place. For Phonics, we are finishing long vowels, with a test on Friday.
Science finds us journaling how electricity flows from a battery, lights a bulb, and back again.  As a review for our Social Studies we'll go into our textbook to look at some U.S. communities and those around the world.
Have a great week!  If possible, please send in wipes and tissues.  We're running out of both!
