Please remember that homework, written and study, should take about one hour each night. Signing the H copybook each night means that the homework is completed and correct.
I hope that your Thanksgiving holiday was filled with good friends and good times. Here we are at the first week in Advent. We are on our way to Christmas.
This week in Religion we will be learning about Advent, the liturgical year, and the titles for Mary. There will be a test Wednesday on the Sacraments of Initiation. In Math we will be working with the multiplication tables 2-5. Again, these need to be memorized. We will review short and long vowels, plurals, and compound words in Spelling and long "o" in Phonics. The children will practice cursive uppercase letters "I", "J", "K", and "L" for Penmanship. We will review complete subjects and predicates and compound subjects and predicates and commas in Grammar. We'll be working on revising and editing paragraphs by using adjectives and colorful details in Writing. To review the Theme 2 skills the children will perform their first Readers' Theater called "The Case of the Three Bears' Breakfast". It should be a lot of fun!
In Science we'll be making a simple circuit with a test Thursday on Investigations 2 and 3 and in Social Studies we are learning how the Pilgrims met their basic needs and then went on to meet other needs like education, religion, protection, and government. There will be a test Friday on the Plymouth Plantation notes.
