Lesson 13

Lesson 13  Office: II

1)  Feedback and discussion from Lesson 12 prep. This prep was:
i) Use Google Docs to create and store and subsequently access files you create over the holidays. Try creating and storing school work in it.

ii) Watch Google Docs in Plain English (YouTube, 2007). With your designated partner from your set, this holiday write a collaborative document (using Google Docs) that explores to your mutual satisfaction (use the web to research each) the following things mentioned in this lesson: cloud computing; Amazon Web Services; ASUS miniBook (also known as the Asus EEE PC 701); Nokia N810; iPod Touch. (You may use a Google document file, a Google presentation - or both; use images and links as you see fit.) Be ready to access and print off/present this at the start of next term.
You'll be asked to log on and have your Google Docs main page ("File Manager") open. You'll then be asked to talk about your experiences as we circulate and see what you've done with your Docs. For part ii) of the prep, you'll be asked for your feedback on and you'll also have to to print out/present your holiday work.

2)  If time, we'll explore Google Notebook (FAQs). There's a very good CBC video here; the latest version of Google Toolbar integrates Notebook — Annotating the Web with Google Toolbar (2007).

Prep: Complete holiday work (as necessary); read Gates, Jobs, & the Zen aesthetic and make notes in Google Notebook (for discussion next time).
