“A” and “B” teams: 1. “B” teams will
play in a division with other “B” teams. There will be 4
divisions but the 4th division made up of “B” teams will
not participate in the tournament beyond the division competition.
“B” teams will not advance, nor will the players be eligible for
All Tournament honors. Players on a “B” team may be any
players the coach designates from the school team. 2. Once two teams from one
school are set up for the first round of division play, players may not be
changed from one team to the other during division play. If the
“A” team from a school advances to the quarterfinal round, players
from the “B” team are eligible to play on the school team in the
final rounds. Division Play
for “A” teams The eighteen (18)
“A” teams will be divided into three separate divisions of six (6)
teams each. The teams will play a round-robin format in which each team will
play five (5) matches. Advancement to
quarterfinal round: 1. The winner and the runner
up of each division will advance to the quarter final round along with two wild
card teams with the best records of the remaining teams. Tie breaking
rules for teams with identical records are in numbers 3 to 6 below. 2. The division winner with
the most wins will play the wild card team of a different division with the least
wins. The division winner with the second most wins will play the other
wild card team unless of same division. In that case the opponent will be
the runner up of a different division with the least wins. The third
division winner will play the remaining wild card team if not already slotted
and if not in the same division. Otherwise the opponent will be the
runner up from another division with the least wins. The remaining two
teams will play each other. 3. If two teams are tied with
identical records in a division, the head-to-head result in division play will
break the tie, and determine advancement and match ups. 4. If three or more teams are
tied with identical records in a division, the total points scored in division
play will be used to break the tie, and determine advancement or matchups. 5. If two or more teams
are tied with identical records in different divisions, then total points
scored in division play will be used in determining advancement or match ups, 6. If the above methods cannot
break a tie between three or more teams, teams will be drawn by lot to
determine advancement or placement. Advancement to
semifinal round: 1. The teams that win in the
quarter final round will advance to the semifinal round. 2. The team with the most wins
in division play will play the team with the least wins in division play.
The other two teams will play each other. If teams have the same number of
wins, then total points in division play will be used. Advancement to
championship round: 1. The winning teams in the
semifinal round will play for the championship and second place. 2. The losing teams in the
semifinal round will play for third and fourth place.
