What are the dictionaries available in the game?
Q: Can you list all the dictionaries that are available to play?
A: Currently the following dictionaries are available in the game;
- Danish (beta)
- Dutch (beta)
- English
- English TWL
- French (beta)
- German (beta)
- Italian (beta)
- Norwegian (beta)
- Spanish (beta)
- Swedish (beta)
Why are some of the dictionaries labelled with "beta"?
Q: In the list of available dictionaries, some langauges are labelled with "beta", what does this mean?
A: Some of the dictionaries are labelled with "beta" because we are are aware that these dictionaries are not 100% correct. When a dictionary is labelled "beta" it means that we know that some words are missing and that some words are not common words used in the language.
You may help us improve the dictionaries by posting in the relevant thread in the forum:

What are the differences between the English and the English TWL dictionaries?
Q: Why are there two English dictionaries available, and what is the difference?
A: TWL stands for "Tournament World List" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Official_Tournament_and_Club_Word_List). The TWL dictionary is the official list used in Scrabble tournaments.
The TWL dictionary contains uncommon and obscure words that are part of the English language.
If you are not a truly hardcore word game player who knows a lot of obscure and uncommon words, the normal English dictionary is best to use.
Though, if you are already using the English dictionary and find that a lot of words you know are not being recognized, try the TWL dictionary.
Why are names and places not included in the dictionary?
Q: While playing I notice that places such as "Paris" or names such as "Linda" are not accepted, why is this?
A: Names and places might be words like "John", "Latin" or "Paris", these are words defined as proper nouns. Proper nouns are specific names, places and objects. In Word Challenge we are only allowing common noun words to be played. (http://www.chompchomp.com/terms/propernoun.htm)
Is it possible to view rankings by country/World?
Q: I would like to see how I rank compared to other people in my country and the world. Is it possible?
A: At the present time, you are only able to view the scores you and your friends have achieved.
Is it possible to reset my score?
Q: I want to reset my score and start afresh, is it possible?
A: Yes, it is possible to reset your score. The main menu of the game (with the big PLAY button) has the following icon at the top:
Click on the icon and it will allow you to reset your score. You may reset your score as many times as you like.
My score is not saved
Q: Having played a game I am seeing the following message; "There seems to be something wrong with your score" - what does it mean?
A: If you receive this error it can be due to one of our anti-cheating mechanisms. Generally when you receive this error it is because our systems indicate that your system clock is slower than normal and therefore it is being flagged in our systems as you have an advantage. For example you could get 2 minutes 40 seconds instead of 2 minutes for each round of playing.
There are various reasons which your system clock could be slow, the most likely case is that you have some program on your machine that you are unaware of (spyware for example). It could also be that your system battery is low.
To check if spyware is one of the reasons for the slow-down in your system-clock you can download Adaware an anti-spyware program for free: http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php
My latest score does not show in my friends score chart
Q: I have just achieved a new high score. However, when I go to my friend's profile page and view the profile box for the game, the pyramid displays my old high score
A: The profile box (score chart) is updated on your friends profile only when they play the game. The next time your friend plays the game, your latest high score will be displayed in their profile box. You need to get your friends playing! ;)
How does the scoring system work?
Q: Is there a list available how the scoring system works? When I make a mistake, will I lose points?
A: The score is 25 points for the first letter, and increased by 1 point for each subsequent letter. So for example if you get a 3 letter word first, then the score will be 25 + 26 + 27 = 78. Then if you get another 3 letter word the score will be 28 + 29 + 30 = 87. You have a better chance to achieve a higher score by playing the same set of letters and find as many words as you possibly can, rather than to move onto a new set quickly.
Why is there no pause function?
Q: How come there is no pause function available in the game?
A: Playfish have chosen not to add a pause function as it could potentionally provide an easy cheating mechanism. Also, a full game last approximately 3 minutes on average including loading and game intro screens.
Cheating
Q: I have noticed that there are some users that have an abnormal score. Are they cheating or are they really that good?
A: Playfish is aware that some users have created different tools and/or bots to boost their score within the game. Playfish are taking measures to limit the possibilities of cheating. You can report cheaters by posting a message in the Facebook Message Board: http://www.facebook.com/board.php?uid=10726707410
You can also report suspected cheaters anonymously by emailing: cheaters@playfish.com
Where can I make suggestions to improvements?
Q: Can I suggest changes to the game in order to improve it?
A: You can suggest improvements by posting on the Facebook Message Board: http://www.facebook.com/board.php?uid=10726707410
Playfish will evaluate all suggestions that are submitted by the users.
