Sound, Lighting and Recording
Project #1

Your group has been hired to set up and run sound for a small instrumental performance. Below are directions and a list of the instruments the group will use and equipment available for the performance.

Directions:     -Read chapter 13 on sound scenarios for miking a band and work on Chapter 13 packet.
-Discuss strategies with your group.
-Draw a diagram of instruments and equipment placing.
-Set up a safe and clean stage.
-Protect your equipment.
-Set up equipment to best fit the scenario. Use only the mics needed, don’t over use mics.
-When system is set, test each channel with and without voice or instrument.
-Mix each channel for the type of instrument or voice.
-Start slow, with one channel at a time

Your group will have several class periods to practice before you are tested. All aspects of the project will be graded including reading, diagram, set up and use of equipment. Have Fun!!!

            Wireless instrument mic

            Bass Guitar & amp
            Guitar-Electric or acoustic
            Electric piano
            Substitutions are accepted.

Essay:    Each student will write an essay discussing the experience of the project.
    -How was it working with others with the same goals
    -What did you need to do to make it successful
    -Discuss your experience with the equipment
    -include your opinion of the project
Your essay should be a five-paragraph essay with an Introduction, a discussion about what worked, what you would change, suggestions for next time and a conclusion.

 GUITAR WORKSHOP I:

Students will choose a famous guitar player, living or not, to interview.


Pretend you are the interviewer, maybe for Rolling Stone. Be creative! Ask questions that will fulfill the following requirements.


Students should discuss in depth the life work of a famous guitar player of any genre. Students should mention types of works and use compositions and performances to support (include examples). Your essay should be a five-paragraph essay with an Introduction, a discussion and a conclusion (conclusion should include your opinion of the guitarist and why you chose him/her).

GUITAR WORKSHOP II:
1st Marking Period WRITING ASSIGNMENT
 
Students will answer the following question in paragraph form.
 
Your essay should be a five-paragraph essay with an Introduction, three body paragraphs and conclusion.

QUESTION:
What does it take to succeed on guitar? Within you essay please define your definition of success.
 
Students will peer edit in class, revise using HSPA edit symbols and write a final draft.
