Author, last name first. Title. Place of publication: publisher, copyright date.

Example:

Encyclopedia - Print

Format:

Author, last name first. "Title of entry or article," Title of Encyclopedia, copyright date, Volume, page number(s).

Example:

"Dogs," World Book, 2000, IV, 331 - 337.

If there is an author for the article

Johnson, William. "Dogs," World Book, 2000, IV, 331 - 337.

Encyclopedia - Online

Format:

Author's name, last name first (if available). "Article or Web page title," Web site title, URL, access date.

Example:

Beasley, Maurine H. "Roosevelt, Eleanor," World Book Online, http://www.worldbookonline.com, May 27, 2001, Chicago: World Book, Inc.

Encyclopedia - CD-ROM

Format:

Author's name, last name first (if available). "Article title," Encyclopedia title, version, producer, edition or copyright or publication date.

Example:

Garrison, David L. "Marine biology," 2001 World Book, Version 5.0, World Book, Inc., 2001.

Magazine

Format:

Author, last name first. "Title of Magazine Article." Title of Magazine, Volume, Date of publication (including month, day, and year), page number(s).

Example:

Sanders, Mary. "The Taliban." Newsweek, Vol. 74, December 10, 2001, 28 - 32.

Website

Format:

Author, last name first (if available). Title of Item. [Online] Available http://address/filename, date of document or download, if document is not available.

Example:

Davis, Ann B. The Cold War Revisited. [Online] Available http://www.usacoldwarserver.gov/incex/coldwar/countries.formersovietblock.Germany/germany.html, December 9, 2001.

Example with No Author:
