Finding Cell Biology Journals and Articles

Cell  http://www.cell.com/content
 - Excellent journal for finding a research article for this assignment!
- Article over one year old available for free online
- Make sure to choose from the RESEARCH ARTICLES section of the journal!
- Want to print the data, graphs, etc along with the article?  Chose the PDF version.
- These may take awhile to download – they are BIG files.

Search Millions of Articles Simultaneously Using the Library Databases

1)  Go to the Pierce College Library web page www.pierce.ctc.edu/library
2) Click Articles and Database on the left under FIND
3) Search in the Academic Search Premier or ProQuest databases.  Look at the Academic Journals or Scholarly Journals sections.

  • ProQuest. This database contains millions of articles from thousands of publications. ProQuest has scholarly journals, magazines and an emphasis on newspapers and news magazines. It also includes a helpful "Suggested Topics" feature that assists you in refining your search. Click here for tips on searching the ProQuest database

  • EBSCOhost's Academic Search Complete. This database is similar to ProQuest, but has a greater emphasis on scholarly, peer-reviewd journals. Click here for tips on searching the ASC database.

TIP!  It's extremely important to search with cell biology vocabulary in order to find articles that are really about cell biology concepts!!!!!!

For example--- cloning nucleus  --- is a much more effective search than a search for ------ cloning
