Student Assistance Program

Mission Statement:
The Student Assistance Program (SAP) is a school based substance abuse intervention program established to identify adolescents whose behavior, attendance, or grades indicate that they may have problems related to substance abuse.  Through the seven steps that comprise the SAP process, these at-risk adolescents are directed to appropriate services in the community that will provide the necessary assistance.

Goals:
*  Organize and implement a voluntary faculty team (including representatives from the faculty, administration, health and guidance) to respond to suspected drug use;

*  Identify and respond to drug-related school issues;

*  Take a pro-active posture in establishing programs;

*  Encourage and support students to choose a drug-free lifestyle;

*  Ensure a drug-free school environment by educating and engaging the support of staff, students and community regarding all aspects and consequences of chemical use.
