Meet The Teachers

Mrs. Rukh: (Reading, Writing & Social Studies)

Hi! My name is Mrs. Rukh :) This year I will begin my 5th year teaching at Springhill Lake Elementary! I am working on becoming a National Board Certified Teacher and also getting my second Master's degree at George Mason University. I have always had a passion for teaching and am excited to watch my students thrive this year! In my free time I enjoy watching movies, online shopping and traveling to new places! I look forward to this being an awesome school year :)

Ms. Faulk: (Reading, Writing & Social Studies)

I am a graduate of the City University of New York where I received an M.S. in elementary education. I received my undergraduate education at The College of New Rochelle in New Rochelle New York, I received a B.A. in Liberal Arts; minor in elementary education.

Ms. Baldwin: (Math & Science)

Ms. Baldwin has two college degrees; one in Music from Ithaca College, and one in Curriculum and Instruction from Loyola College. She loves living in Greenbelt and spends her time hanging out with her two kids, playing with her two doggies, reading lots and lots of books, listening to many different kinds of music, hiking, and learning about the wonderful world around her. She can’t imagine doing anything else with her life other than teaching!

Mr. McQuarrie: (Math & Science)

This is my 8th year at Springhill Lake ES. I was an ESOL teacher for 4 years, and this will be my 4th year teaching the 3rd grade. I enjoy lots of different kinds of music, books, video games and sports.

Ms. Mann

Hello! My name is Ms. Mann and this is my second year as a third grade teacher at Springhill Lake! I graduated from the University of Maryland in 2017 with Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Go Terps! I am originally from Connecticut, but I loved living in Maryland so much during college that I decided to move here after graduation. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my three sisters. I am very excited for another year filled with great learning experiences at Springhill Lake Elementary School.

Mrs. Escobedo: (Special Education)

Greetings! My name is Mrs. Escobedo. I have been teaching at Springhill Lake Elementary School for two and a half years in the special education department. Over the summer exciting things happened! I got married and completed my master’s degree at Concordia University! When I am not at school I am still a busy bee! I have two dogs and four sugar gliders, so with that includes a lot of fun and responsibility. I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family and friends. When I am relaxing at home nothing beats a great book! I am looking forward to the new school year and all of the fun we are going to have!

Hi! My name is Rakhee Shah and this year I will be teaching Math, Science and Health. I completed my Master’s from India and Special Education Certification from College of Notre Dame, Baltimore.

Bill Yankowy

Hello! My name is Bill Yankowy and I am an ISEA in 3 rd grade CRI at Springhill Lake Elementary. I have been working at the school since August 2004 and I was a student at the school from 1993-1998. When I’m away from work I like to spend time with my friends and family, in particular my four nephews. I like movies, music, sports and playing video games. I hope everyone has a great school year.

Mrs. Pope

Hi, my name is Mrs. Pope, I have been working in the School system for 17 years. I am originally from Germany, I have two adult children and two grandchildren, who make me very happy. If I have free time, I love to travel, cook and to read. My promise for my 3 rd grade journey is to treat every child as it were my own and to do my absolute best that each learning day will be a great experience for your child and our students.

Ms. Wilcher

Hello! I am Mrs. Wilcher. I’ve been teaching for 18 years. I came from the Philippines. I love teaching so much and I am always excited to see my students every day. I like reading different books, painting, playing piano and guitar, dancing, and designing gowns and dresses. I love writing too! I love Maryland because of its four seasons. I know this will be a great school year because I have wonderful students and colleagues!

Mrs. Daye (Paraprofessional)

My name is Mrs. Daye and I have been working as a Paraprofessional for 14 years. I truly enjoy working with children and seeing them grow academically. My favorite color is pink, I love to travel, shop and read.
