 This is for ideas that we don't yet have the necessary personnel, or money, or something else. Somebody wants them who can't personally make it happen, so they go here. If you want to take charge of one of these projects, Volunteer! | Volunteer Radio Shirts | you've seen this, right? http://www.thinkgeek.com/tshirts/illuminated/a090/ What Penguicon needs is a whole set of shirts like this that are all radio-frequency attuned to each other. you were saying at the meeting you're not so much money-limited as people-limited - so for two or four hours of volunteering, give someone a T-shirt or badge widget that has the penguicon logo on it and that will light up when they are within hugging distance of other volunteers. Or if that's too expensive, rf-ID them and then put something in one or more places around the hotel that will react to the RF ID by displaying something or producing a prize or a clue to a game or something, but preferably something that will make it visible to the people around them that this is about them and it's about volunteering. | Scavenger Hunt | After telling Heather Fish about Chicago’s Sav Hunt (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Chicago_Scavenger_Hunt), the idea of doing a smaller, but inspired, scavenger hunt that would run from Thursday night till Sunday (sign up and start whenever you want) came up.People would ideally sign up in teams and clues would take them around the hotel and the convention. (Ask a question in a panel with one of our guests of honor on it. Be nice to someone on hotel staff. A box of Wheaties with Wheaton on it.—these are a few of the ideas we came up with for clues.) | Molly De Blanc |
| Conrunning Software Dev Site | Make a Sourceforge-like site for collaborating on software for running conventions. Such as web apps to put together the schedule, improvements to the membership registration database, and so forth. Give it the Penguicon.net domain. | Ron Blanchett |
| Dinner on Friday | Hamburger and hotdog dinner on Friday. Donate 15 minutes on the grill, prepping food, or serving and get fed for free, otherwise, pony up $2 for all you can eat. | jer_ |
| Photo Kiosk | A few computers set up around in different places in a kiosk mode with a memory card reader to download photos people want to share of the con. Possibly in trash cans billed as "Photo Droids". It could be done with cheap junk computers with the photos folder set to write only (drop box mode.).
