A Technical Committee is being formed from representatives of industry to discuss a continuation of the former joint venture known as DEA 13. The committee will: (1) review previous DEA Project 13 results to identify gaps for a new project,(2) review pertinent technical literature that may provide answers to gaps identified in the DEA 13 project review and questions raised during the initial discussion, (3) review technical suggestions from this discussion and provide a tentative list of potential objectives and potential related technical tests.
To aid in this planning, the tests suggested in these discussions will be reviewed by TerraTek to provide input on both the relative cost and ability to conduct the tests. A listing, or table, of cost differential for test components will be furnished by TerraTek to further aid in test planning. GPRI will be asked to administer the project through its Cooperative organization.
In addition, the possibility of obtaining funds from DOE (through RPSEA), MMS or GRI will be investigated. Based on approximate test costs and the discussion, a target funding of $2,000,000 is projected. A potential project offering would be timed to allow payment from fourth quarter 2009 or first quarter of 2010, with the work to be conducted in 2010. It is also possible that a project may be planned in phases, for 2010 and 2011.
An initial meeting was held February 11, 2009 at ConocoPhillips, hosted by Dave Beardmore with Don Whitfill as a co-host. Don's notes from that meeting are attached. GPRI will administrate the JIP. An overview is included in the sidebar. |
