Investigation into two peak shaving technologies to be utilized in the drilling rigs namely flywheels and super capacitors for lightweight rigs. After determination of cost involved for electrically operated rigs work will be extended to specification, modeling and layout of electrical systems in the drilling rigs. A renewable energy based hybrid system is also under consideration whose performance is to be evaluated to supply loads such as drilling rigs economically. |
