Email

As Clay Shirky says, the killer app is email.

We don't have to explain email, and any attempt would be boring. Which is percisely why its interesting. Everyone has email, from my 7 year old daughter to her 102 year old great-grandmother. And it works: you email people something, they get it. But that's where the problems start. It works too well. So well that many of us have to process hundreds of messages a day. We're becoming neurons in a mega brain, and email is the electrons on our axons.
We need to use email effectively - for us as well as for our peers on the receiving end.
