- "The Skoll Awards provide later-stage, or mezzanine,
funding, which is generally structured as a $1 million award paid out
over three years, subject to payment limitations described below under Budget Guidance. In most cases, the grant is provided for core support
to help organizations expand their programs and capacity to deliver
long-term, sustainable equilibrium change. The Skoll Awards are not
intended for new or early-stage programs or initiatives. Programs
submitted for consideration should have a track record of no less than
three years. In addition to core support, the Skoll Foundation supports
the participation of Award recipients in the annual Skoll World Forum on Social Entrepreneurship."
- This grant is not for us at this time; however, down the road once we have a few projects under our belt, this grant could definitely be in our reach and help us expand. -Shane
- Rotary Humanitarian Grants (note: they offer a variety of grants, and this is the one that seemed most suited to us, but others could apply as well) - Due any time between July 1 and March 31
Alternate funding ideas: - Dodgeball (or similar) tournament
- Could charge an entry fee, and teams play for half of the pot? The audience could also donate to make the pot bigger? And we could have a bake sale too!
- Do this potentially the first weekend after Thanksgiving?
- Using The Point to raise funds specific to discrete parts of the project
- I have an idea for a fundraiser on the lines of a sports tournament. I was thinking that a singles and doubles ping pong tournament would be fun and we can raise more money because each team is one or two people only. Also, I know that the rec center has a room that has quite a few ping pong tables. We can rent paddles and ball are pretty cheap to buy. Plus, ping pong is fun! Also, I was thinking that for prizes we could try and get businesses to donate stuff. That way we can keep all the profits. Anywho... just a thought.
