General Etiquette: You are personally responsible and accountable for your workstation time. Before you use a workstation, please sign in on the log sheet for the workstation you are using, unless your teacher or lab supervisor announces they are going to be doing it for you. This may occur if you come as a group. All class work, email, research, or other web tasks are expected to be conducted according to OBI’s Biblical standards of decency and appropriateness. Please work quietly. Food and drinks are not allowed in the lab. Switching computer stations is not permitted except with permission from your teacher or lab supervisor. When you are finished, exit to the Windows desktop screen. Straighten the keyboard and mouse and push in your chair. Sign out on the log sheet before leaving. Saving Work: Note: The lab computers will not keep files that are saved to them. Please make sure you save your work to either a floppy or a USB portable flash drive. When using floppies, make sure it is in good shape and that the steel retractable cover isn’t bent. Students may request one free floppy drive from the lab supervisor. Others may be purchased for $0.50 each. If a virus is detected while using your portable drive or floppy, please inform OBI Technical support so that the virus can be removed correctly. Eject USB/ Thumb drives correctly. Security: OBI uses security and filtering programs to minimize exposure and access to offensive web materials and to ensure the computers are kept running. Deliberate access to, or attempt to access indecent or inappropriate sites, introduction of dangerous programs such as viruses, or tampering with the school’s hardware or software is strictly forbidden and subject to disciplinary action. If an Educational or Research site seems to be erroneously blocked, please write down the “URL” and inform OBI Technical Support. No adjustment to a workstation’s settings or programming is permitted without the Lab Instructor’s permission. Please remember that the computers are shared by the community.
