The great, great niece of the organist from the Cuddebackville Reformed Church (Orange Classis), Madison Tremper, is gravely ill. She just turned one and has a difficult life and the doctors have told her parents that it will soon be over.
She recently came down with the swine flu (after having shots at the doctor's office the other day). Her temperature went up to 103 and the doctors have told her parents that there is bleeding on the brain and there is nothing else to be done.
It is in God's hands now. She is their only child. Please, pray your deepest prayers in this matter, for Maddy and the Tremper family.
SAD UPDATE 11/11/09: We are very sorry to report that Maddy passed away last night. Please continue to keep her family in your prayers.

Taylor Boice, the young son of Paul Boice, RCA Director of Communication, was recently rushed to the hospital in a diabetic coma, due to an extremely high blood sugar level. When he was stabilized, he was transferred to DeVos Children's Hospital where he remains in the Intensive Care Unit. He is still in a coma, but resting and showing signs of improvement. Please keep Taylor, as well as the entire Boice family, in your thoughts and prayers.
UPDATE: Earlier today, Taylor regained consciousness. He is still very tired and too confused to communicate, but he did try to say something. The main concerns now are his kidneys, which are not functioning at this time, and the fact that his brain was without oxygen for a short period of time when they were trying to bring down the blood sugar level. The doctors don't know at this point whether there will be repercussions from this. They are hopeful that he will make a full recovery. Please continue to pray for him.
UPDATE 11/9/09: Taylor continues to improve. His kidneys are now working at about 40%, which means he may be able to go home soon. The family thanks each and every one of you who prayed for Taylor and their family during this extremely difficult time.
FURTHER UPDATE: Taylor went home over the weekend! He continues to struggle with short-term memory and school will be a challenge. His friends are already organizing to help him with tutoring! God is truly wonderful!
Prayers are asked for Rev. Clara Woodson, the Synod's Area Minister for the classes of Brooklyn, New York and Rockland-Westchester. She is having problems with her back and is in a great deal of pain. Please say an extra prayer for her to feel better soon!

Your best thoughts and prayers are asked for Althea Robinson, the daughter of Rev. Clara Woodson (Synod Area Minister for the Classes of Brooklyn, New York, Rockland-Westchester) and Edwin Woodson. Althea is suffering from a blood and bone disease and is currently in a hospital in Virginia. Though their faith is strong, prayers would be most appreciated.
UPDATE: As of October 8th, Althea was responding well to treatment. Clara calls it a true MIRACLE! Clara plans to leave for home some time in the next few days.
UPDATE 11/9/09: Althea will be having another chemo treatment today. Clara will be going to Virginia again to be with her. Please continue to pray for Althea and her family.
The Rev. Dr. Edwin Mulder, past General Secretary of the RCA, had a pacemaker implanted four weeks ago. It is working as hoped. He also underwent surgery on October 3rd and will continue treatments as needed in the future. He is home in Holland, Michigan and cards can be sent to him at 145 Columbia Avenue, Apt. 626, Holland, MI 49423. Please keep him your thoughts and prayers as he continues to heal.

Please keep Rev. Nancy McClure-Long, former pastor of the High Falls Community Church (Mid-Hudson Classis), and her husband Bert in your prayers. Currently, Nancy is undergoing four weeks of physical therapy for a jammed back and broken finger. On August 5th, Bert visits the hematologist to get the results of a bone marrow test - a blood disorder that is either lymphoma or multiple myeloma.
