Girls Basketball Winter 09 Season Archive

Gladiators advance!
Northwood Girls varsity played a heart-stopping game against Francis Scott Key High School in the first round of bracket play taking home the win with a 1 point advantage. On March 3 the girls will travel to Frederick County to take on Middletown. Go Gladiators!!

Senior Night and a win over Einstein
February 4, 2009

Seniors Flora Amayo, Maria Bueno, and Taira Poole were honored along with their parents during a half-time ceremony at the Wednesday game against Einstein. Principal Johnson and Assistant Principal Wolf were on hand to congratulate the departing seniors. The Gladiators were victorious over the Titans.

Down to wire...NHS takes home the "W" against Kennedy

Flora Amayo scored the game-winning basket with seconds remaining to beat Kennedy.

January 13th: County powerhouse Paint Branch Panthers display their dominance with 96-48 win over Northwood's Gladiators.

Titans fall at home, Northwood girls take home the victory
The Northwood Girls Varsity, lead by Morgan Moats with 19 points, beat the Einstein Titans on Friday, January 9th.

Northwood adds another "W" as it rolls over Wheaton
With an impressive victory of 64-12 over the Wheaton Knights, Northwood's girls varsity added its second win of the season. Flora Amayo added 10 steals for her second double-double of the season, and Taira Poole had eight steals.


Flo was a poised and precise in the second half, leaving the stunned Cavaliers wondering what hit them.
The Northwood Girls Varsity staged an impressive comeback after a lackluster first half to beat Kennedy at home. With a strong defensive game and aggressive board work, the girls showed the team they are capable of being. Congratulations and Happy Holidays!

2008-2009 Girls Basketball Season Preview
