Eleventh-grade language arts emphasizes student enhancement of reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical thinking skills through integrated activities. In the first semester, students in this course will study a variety of literary works from America's colonial period, the American Age of Reason, and American Romanticism. During the second semester, students will study works from the Civil War period to the twenty-first century. The genres we study will include fiction, poetry, drama, and non-fiction. Becoming effective writers, readers, and speakers at a college level will be a major goal of this course. Writing and reading assignments will be frequent.
