Mondays and Thursdays  George Pierce Park
Tuesdays and Fridays (optional)  Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center
 Wednesdays  Sims Lake Park
 Saturdays (optional)  George Pierce Park

A note about the optional days.  I have developed a training program that asks you to run 5-6 days a week – making Friday optional and allowing you to choose Saturday or Sunday as your weekend day to train.  I do not want you to think that I am downplaying the significance of summer training, because that it not the case at all.  My hope is that we put out enough effort on our scheduled days to create a need for rest days.  I also hope that many of you will choose to get together on the optional days to get your runs in – either at the noted locations or somewhere else, maybe Buford Dam or the new Settles Bridge Park (when it opens).

Part of being a successful cross-country runner is learning to be accountable to yourself and your teammates, even when no one is taking roll.  Taking shortcuts with your summer running will show up in your fall running – don’t think that it won’t.

You must have your own water bottle and good running shoes and you should bring your watch if you have one.  If you don’t have one, go to Walmart and purchase a cheap stopwatch so you can time your runs and you won’t have to rely on someone else!  The $10 watches at Wal-Mart work fine, the $50 Timex Ironman is as expensive as you would ever need.

We are running in different locations this summer (like last year) to try and cut down on injuries (and boredom) from running on the roads all summer long.  The Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center along with George Pierce Park, allows for mileage that can be run on mostly trails and not roads and sidewalks.

In addition to running, we will incorporate some elements of strength, flexibility and form work into our practices.
