California is facing a lot of challenges right now: a massive budget deficit, a crisis in public education, an economy short on good-paying jobs, a health care system that’s failing too many families.

Here in the 61st district, I see the effects of those challenges on a daily basis.  As the mayor of Pomona, a member of city council and a longtime political activist, I have spent years working to remedy many of these issues at the local level.  My experiences taught me that if you identify a problem, build a coalition, and work to solve it, there’s no limit to what you can accomplish.

I’m ready to take that lesson to Sacramento.  The 61st district should be represented by a problem-solver with close ties to the community and a real understanding of the challenges California’s working families face every day.  My experiences in public safety, local government and as a working mother of three make me uniquely qualified to understand, serve and represent our district in the state assembly.

I hope you will join me in my effort to work toward real solutions for working families.  Together, we can move California in a new direction.

Sincerely,

Norma Torres
