nevanti A filmmaker with several shorts and creative documentaries for TV and Cinema distribution under her belt, and a characteristic personal style, Nevanti is today working on a fiction script "Personal Files" based on the highly acclaimed writer Asko Sahlberg´s original novel "Hämärän Jäljet". Her earlier work includes the feature length film "Tomorrow Never Knows" (Nov 2006 Idfa Joris Ivens Competition) and the acclaimed “Among the Elves” (Honorary Mention in Nov 1999 Idfa Joris Ivens Competition). She likes experimental work, among them shorts like the animated documentary “Light My Fire” a three screen projection about the Danish Nobel Prize Winner Niels Bohr for the Nobel Museum. In her work as a director, Nevanti has learned that “good instincts usually tell you what to do before your head has figured it out." Also, she says "Making documentaries is interpreting reality; not necessarily as it appears to be; the key is that the film must be ‘true to the spirit’ of what is portrayed. This gives you the freedom to select the cinematic expressions best suited to the subject matter. From time to time (since spring 2009) Nevanti is also teaching doc.film directing at Dramatiska institutet (DI) University College of Film, Radio, Television and Theatre in Stockholm. “Good instincts usually tell you what to do before your head has figured it out."
