Gregory H. Baecker, Principal baeckerg@nausetschools.org As I write this correspondence to you I am doing so after a day watching, speaking with, and listening to students. I listened as sixth graders discussed the manatee found in Sesuit Harbor in Dennis. Their questions and discussion points showed their interest and concerns. I met with the eighth graders today to review the New York City, New York eighth grade trip. I reviewed the itinerary with them from their dinner cruise, to museums, to Ellis Island. We discussed the United Nations, the Broadway Play, the Empire State Building, the hotel and finally our hope to get them a tour of the new Yankee Stadium. I also distributed to them information about the wreath sale. Our goal is to take all eighth graders; hopefully we'll meet that. I also had the chance today to speak with four stuents who will re-do the garden area to the right of the front door. They are creating a plan and after the preparations they will secure and plant the items chosen. It's been a pleasure to observe their interest. Finally, I had the chance to walk through four classrooms. Students were led by nurturing, competent teachers. The students were engaged and on-task. One class was discussing the upcoming election, while another was focused on a novel. In essence it was a good day, one where I felt good about what I'd observed. As I write this to you, I'm listening to "Josh Grobrin", and reflecting on the activities of the day. I'd like to have many more just like today. Enjoy the fall. |
