Exit 8 off Route 6 turn right. Go through 2 traffic lights and the school is just beyond the Administration Office and Station Avenue Elementary School. Enter the first entrance to the school. Drive to the end and park. The computer lab is located in the lower Math wing and the exterior door at that end of the building will be open.

Course Prerequisites: None

Course Description: This course is designed to introduce students to web-based social networking environments and provide them with the resources and experiences to effectively integrate them into their teaching repertoire. In addition, students will be exposed to the concepts of Digital Citizenship and 21st Century Skills

Global Goals: Students will learn

  • To design more effective curriculum by using new emerging technologies
  • To use a variety of social networking tools to integrate technology into their curriculum
  • To understand the global world that our students will be entering and how the way we present instruction with the effect their success

  1. What is Web 2.0?
  2. Create Blogs and Wikis and explore how they can be used in the classroom
  3. How to use Skype as a communication tool.
  4. What are RSS feeds and how to set them up
  5. What is social networking? A look at how we can use social networks for our students to communicate, collaborate and innovate.
  6. Create, publish and usedigital Images and multimedia online
  7. Use Google Earth
  8. Learn Google Tools: tools anyone can use to communicate and collaborat
  9. Learn effective search strategies-- a  beyond the “Google It” mentality
  10. What does this all mean
