Google Earth

Google Earth is a phenomenal FREE tool that teachers can integrate into just about any subject area. The Google Earth software uses satellite imagery, topographical maps and many more layers of information that allow you to view and explore the entire world (and Space, too!). Countries, states, cities, streets, local points of interest, geographic information, buildings, landforms and more can be seen using parameters that you define.

Virtual field trips, Literature trips, Space and Undersea explorations are just a few of the possibilities that this incredible resource can bring to the classroom. In this workshop you will gain an introduction to the basics of Google Earth and develop a virtual field trip for your own classroom that can fit into your current lesson plans and align with the State Curriculum Frameworks. You'll even learn a little known secret on how to get the Pro version of Google Earth (a $500 program) for FREE!

The workshop will divided into two sessions on the same day:
  • Morning session will focus on learning how to use the program.
  • Afternoon session will be constructing a virtual field trip for classroom use.
