Community Mentor Program

Caring adults mentor Fillmore-Piru youth. The minimum requirement is one contact a week, and two face to face contacts a month.  The relationship that the youth and adult form often lasts throughout their lives.  This relationship is different, depending on the individuals and their individual likes and differences.  Each match is carefully screened, evaluated, trained and matched according to shared interests.  Some mentors meet their mentees weekly to go out for a soda to talk about the week.  Others go out to lunch, go to the gym together, go to the beach or to the library or a museum.  The main purpose of a mentor is to have someone to talk with who will be confidential and "be there" just for them.
