Thanksgiving Service

Wednesday, November 25

7:30 p.m.

This special service will be a time for all of our campuses from Robious Hall, James River and Buford Road to come together and offer our praises of thanksgiving through music and the spoken word.

Our Senior Associate Pastor, Rev. Norman Burnes, will deliver a message on being grateful for our many blessings.

Also during this service, there will be a dedication of gifts and prayers for the Christmas store recipients.

The Weary World Rejoices

Presented by the Sanctuary Choir and Instrumentalists

Sunday, December 13

3:30 and 7:00 p.m.

in the Sanctuary of the Buford Road Campus

The Weary World Rejoices will speak to a tired, hurting world in the language of music with the message of Christ's birth. Come hear familiar holiday carols and other spirit-filled arrangements, and be revived both in the joy of the Advent season and the gift of God's love and grace. Experience a "thrill of hope," not only in the Christmas story and the miracle of that event, but also in the abiding truth of God's Son, sent for our salvation. Let the songs of the season and their message of joy cast away your weariness. "To you is the song," and "to you a Savior is born."

Music Ministry Reaches Out to Our World in Need

As part of our Christmas presentation this year, the music ministry is inviting nearly 100 guests from our local homeless centers: The Freedom House, The Good Samaritan Inn, and The Healing Place.  They will attend the 3:30 p.m. performance, then at 5:00 p.m. will be served a Christmas Dinner –with all the trimmings – prepared by our Food Service Ministry, served by our music and missions groups with funding provided by the Sanctuary Choir and The Coventry Ringers.

Together with the familiar music of Christmas and our hospitality, Bon Air Baptist Church is reaching out yet in another way to the needs of the world – “right in our own backyard.”

(The script, written by Caitlin McLaren, will be delivered by Mark Ramsey.  Caitlin is a graduate from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Public Relations.  Marc, a former newscaster for WRVA, is a local seller of historical books, particularly of Virginia history.)
