            We Need Your Help!

The Committee is charged with finding funding to meet the Association's goals. For 2008, the Board of Directors has set two major goals: increase membership and create a celebration of the Association's 60th anniversary properly befitting BaltimoreCity's oldest active community association.

In addition to these major goals, the community expects that the Association will continue to work with residents, neighborhood partners, the police, and city officials to address and resolve community concerns.

In order to be prepared to address community concerns as they arise, the Association maintains an office space and routine supplies.   To keep the community aware of issues and to educate residents as to how to work with the City to resolve issues, a monthly newsletter is published and regular meetings are held.  To demonstrate community pride and solidarity, community gardens are maintained at several locations in Belair-Edison and regular neighborhood walks.  The Association supports the community volunteers who maintain the gardens, hold regular block cleanups, walk every Wednesday, ride with the Northeast Citizens patrol, organize summer outings for youth.

The Association relies heavily upon membership dues to fund these activities and more.  We have held dues at $5.00 for many years and would to like to continue to do so, however each mailing of the newsletter costs $5.16 per issue.  We are faced the alternatives of raising the dues or finding other sources of revenue.

The Fundraising Committee meets each month to discuss alternative revenue sources, including newsletter advertising, grants, solicitation of direct gifts, flea market sales and selling useful items to the community and general public.

We ask for your suggestions for appropriate projects for grants, for recommendations of businesses who may be interested in advertising, or other ideas for fundraising.
